I *can* tell you that Thor didn't seem to suffer in the slightest from not being in 3D when I saw it, and that it was at least as fun as an Iron Man film. $11 seems kind of reasonable to me, but on the other hand, I have a subscription deal with my local cinema (Cineworld) which gives me as many non-3D movies as I like for about double that a month.

3D movies are about a $3 surcharge, and that's not even including the glasses. Hence, 3D has priced itself out of the market where I'm concerned, and I only see 3D films now where there's no viable alternative. And for a lot of films, "Skip seeing this film" is a viable alternative.

Early consensus is making Thor sound pretty much can't-miss, but is also telling me that the 3D is useless in this case, so I'm willing to pay the $11, and I'll likely see it this weekend.
