Word geekery time! I've got a DVR again now, and I plan on saving some shows to the hard drive at the time that they are broadcast, so that I may watch them at a later time of my choosing. Recording.

Not that I have a PVR. Or cable that works well enough to justify having a PVR.

But that's what we called it when we had a VCR, too.

Even though I do point out that we don't have a tape, I thought I still said "tape." However, after reading this, I checked and this morning I IM'ed him asking if he could program the DVR to record a show next week. I guess I've been assimilated.

Well, in the murky world of tv torrenting, the process of recording a show and making a digital copy is referred to as capping (from capturing). I'm not aware that the term has ever jumped the gap and been applied to general home recording.

We use the generic "DVR" as the verb. "I DVR'd a movie last night." "Will you DVR tonight's Glee?"

TiVo'd, then taped. I have a TiVo so its easy to say. And fun!
