I'm not real happy with the American media's spin on the Olympics this time around. First there was the whole Michelle Kwan disaster -- you'd think Kwan was competing in figure skating, alpine skiing, bobsled, and curling by the way the media cried "the sky is falling!" when she dropped out. I'm totally with you on the Bode Miller thing. Thankfully, I'm watching the Games on TiVo and can skip all of his commercials (whether for NBC sports or Nike ( ... )

Bode and Johnny were... aggravating, yep. Dudes need more cattle, less hat.

The American women snowboarders all charmed the socks off me and the L.C., though, if that helps any -- they were so *adorable* with the whole "Wow, we love this sport!!! It's so amazing that we're here!!! It's so fantastic that we're winning!!!" thing. The TV coverage did a pretty good job of capturing their enthusiasm and camaraderie, we thought.

White and Ohno both seem to come off pretty well, yeah. So you can be a "personality" without being annoying -- a lesson certain professional athletes back here could stand to learn.

I'm definitely thinking about doing the DVR thing for Beijing -- these commercials are driving me nuts.

I recommend it highly. On those occasions when I catch up to realtime, I find that I have to go away for an hour or so to give myself the ability to skip the chaff.

It really makes a huge difference in my enjoyment of the Games. I hadn't realized quite how much until now.

I wish to state for the record that I never wished for Weir to miss his bus. I'd be lying if I said I didn't see a certain karmic justice in the results, though.
