Goodbye, George

I think fandom has lost one of its best people. shouldknobetter was an amazing person who was always witty, funny, supportive, friendly and willing to go WAY beyond the call of duty for everyone he met.

The first time I met him, I was completely shitfaced slightly intoxicated and, within 10 minutes, he was insisting on walking me to my hotel room so I got there ( Read more... )

I went through this irrational anger last night and I was so ANGRY that Steve Jobs died and everyone was mourning him and I wanted to scream NO, IF YOU'D KNOWN GEORGE THIS WOULD NOT MATTER!

I know it was totally irrational. But everyone should've known him.

Oh man. Me too. I keep seeing the posts on my flist and I'm all "but you didn't know George and he passed too!" and it's totally irrational but it's there. So yeah, experiencing that, too.

They really really should've. He was that genuine nice guy that deserved to be all around.

♥ Others have better stories about him -- you know George would never allow you to say something like that, right? Your memories and stories of him are flawless, and that makes them amazing to you and to the rest of us. Thank you for sharing your thoughts of him with us.

I know but oh man. I just feel like going "he was just this really nice guy that cared" isn't quite enough, yanno?

And oh man. Speaking of! God. I bawled on the way home from work today because an ad came on my SiriusXM for the Wiggles and I just remembered teasing the everlasting shit out of him for working for the Wiggles or whomever it was (cause I only think of the Wiggles for children's programming) and I had to pull over and sob so much. He was hilarious about working for them and the stories and how he dealt with teasing.

This news made me very sad. I've been afk for two days, and Leila had emailed me to tell me the news. I've broken bread with George at two cons, now, and he was such a calm individual, and at the cons, he was like a cool breeze on a hot day, never once taking advantage of the novelty that he was a rare male at these places, always unassuming and sweet.
