Final rec post from hp_yule_balls from me. I couldn't rec these before the reveals as I knew who the authors were and, in one case, I beta'd the story. I always feel a bit squirmy rec'ing a fic I beta'd. IDK why but I do.

Where the Dandelion Meets the Dirt. I helped beta this fic and, let me tell you, it got me from the beginning. The structure is unique and ( Read more... )

I've been told by friends who work in the food service industry that the greatest asset is the ability to hawk up a loogie on command. The moral of the story being, "always be nice to your waiter/waitress, they handle your food before you see it."

That's exactly what we were talking about - how I didn't want to work food service cause people are jerks and that's when he admitted to spitting in a drink. It's just such a gross thing for me :/. Any body fluid is such a squick of mine. I'm still messaging him, though, so we'll see :D

I have a friend who swears the remedy to prevent nosebleeds (the ones that come about from dry air) is to dip a cotton swab in Vaseline and swab the inside of your nose. Now, I've never tried it, but it may be something to consider. Also, this is the woman who does such a fine job of treating her animals for various injuries and ailments that even her veterinarian is impressed.

The problem is that my nosebleeds are in my sinuses so IDK that that would work :(. I'm more than willing to give it a try, though!

Congrats! It's an honor you most certainly deserve, and I hope you get it!

Hope the humidity issues sort themselves out for you. Nosebleeds are no fun! Though I will say while I was in Tucson, the air did very nice things to my hair, heh.

Thanks muchly!

The air is much more humid than it was so that's helping. I'm still getting a bit but not nearly as much as I had been. I bought a humidifier but it sounds like a rattlesnake every once in a while so I don't run it too often.
