A Few Recs

Sep 21, 2008 19:26

I've been promising links to a few of my favourite GLBT books.

The first is Kirith Kirin. I reviewed it before and it maintains a very high spot on my favourite book list. A small caveat - I would not read the continuation of the series. It devolves into a weird world that I didn't enjoy.

Lynn Flewelling. No, srsly. She has two series - Read more... )

What do you think of the latest VL drama? I am ready to smack Christian after watching that last clip (112)! Although the super-dramatic musical flourish at the end makes me laugh...

I think it's really interesting. I actually like the idea of Christian trying to be stoic about it. He's a boxer and he's been in prison - i think he'd be great at controlling his emotions.

What doesn't sit well with me is that he left the hospital before he knew the outcome of Olli's surgery. That just seems so wrong to me -- what if Olli woke up and asked for him and he was out doing something completely rash and violating his parole? I guess Christian's impulsiveness is part of his charm, but I found it frustrating in this particular situation. Gah, can't wait for the next clip. *bounces*

Also, that's a gorgeous icon...

I'm sorry for using inappropriate icons on your journal without permission, but I couldn't help myself, it just fit.

I read the Bert and Ernie fic a few months ago and oh. my. god. So hilarious and why on earth did I find it...kind of hot?

Thanks for the book recs! I'm going to check those out.

LMFAO - it's ok. With an icon like that?

And omg. YES. That fic. It's just fantabulous. greenspine is a brilliant author.

Definitely do! They're not without their faults but the faults are easily looked over for the most part.

and I'll go back to lolling about your icon.

"Bert, we're thirty-eight years old. It's not a beard. And this isn't a nose, Bert. It's a penis."

I knew, then, that it could only get better, and it did... D: LOL

Also, I will definitely give a gander at some of those books, since I'm always on the lookout for something new to read.

LMFAO. Isn't it awesome? It's so cracky and awesome. I <3 greenspine for that story.

The books are really good. I mean - obviously - they're not without faults but they're good and the faults can be easily overlooked.

I second the Lynn Flewelling rec, and add Mercedes Lackey (whose stories often feature gay and lesbian characters, especially in her Valdemar series), Sarah Waters' books (I'm currently reading Fingersmith) and Storyteller by Amy Thomson.

I've never gotten in to Mercedes Lackey, to be honest. I've not a good clue as to why other than that her writing style doesn't sit well with me.

I'll definitely have to check out the other two. Thankfully, my local library looks to have both :D:D:D:D

Random but who is that in your icon and just what are they doing?
