Puffy Puppies

We took the kids in for a check up on Saturday morning. No real reason, but it had been six months and Ethyl is a bit on the chubby side. Turns out they're fine. At ten months, we could go ahead and transition them to adult food and that might help. We cleaned their ears and all is well. They needed a distemper booster so they got that and $150 later, we were on our way.

After we got home, i went with Robert to pick up a part for his truck over in Illinois and after he dropped me off, i was just fiddling around the house. Matt had let the kids play in the backyard as it was a nice day.

As i was walking back, i saw them playing like usual. Then when they came to the gate, i saw Fred's face all puffed up. Allergic reaction to the shots? Bee sting? We tried calling, but the vet was closed though they had the number for Animal Emergency in Kirkwood, west of town. We packed up the kids and were on our way.

Fred got his shot and was starting to settle down. We were wondering why Ethyl didn't react since they are littermates. Soon enough, we had our answer...she started puffing up too! Maybe delayed because she's bigger. So she got a shot too. Good thing we hung out. Soon enough, they were both getting back to normal and we were on our way home. But damn, what a long day.

They have to take Benadryl every 8 hours for the next couple of days which might make them a little drowsy. But that's ok, i'm sure.
