I was hoping you would get to see the Memorial while you were there.

Sorta helps put WWII in perspective.

George was 14 when it happened; my mom was 10.

I heard a lot about the war as a child; I was born only 16 years after it had begun, and 12 years after it had ended.

It was still a very fresh memory to many.

Oh, that was definitely a must-see. We just had to work around the anniversary. We were both born in '59 and both of our dads had served. Something that will never be forgotten.

That had to have been crazy to live through as a child...and all the craziness afterwards. Glad he came through it.
