From what I understand, Las Colinas was really built up during the tech boom years as a tech office paradise. Everyone from the big boys like Verizon and Microsoft to smaller consulting firms put their offices over there. When the crash hit, the place became kind of a ghost town. My last job was there, not far from where you are. The building I worked in was maybe 25% occupied. The Indian woman who owned the deli on the ground floor would often lament the times from a few years previous when it was full and she had a lot of customers. There were three buildings on our street that were completely empty.
To me, Las Colinas embodies what I disliked the most about Dallas: shiny but ugly, and all very soulless.
