The Kindness of Strangers

Oh the length to which i must go to come up with something new and the lengths that the pics must go to get to your screen. i had a 6:30am meeting at the office, so i left the hotel by 6. i had a little extra time, so i stopped to fill the Camry (yes, they're still giving me Toyotas, though this was a hybrid). i ran inside to get breakfast while it filled. i set up this shot, then promptly hung up the pump, jumped in the car and left for the office and my meeting. So much on my mind that morning. It wasn't until after my big part of the meeting that i thought, "where the hell is my camera? i didn't..." my heart sank a bit. What could i do?

About 8:30, i was out of the meeting and called the gas station. Why yes, they did find it. It was down at the Marriott around the corner. They called and found that i had indeed stayed there and was going to be staying there next week too. i called the Marriott and yes, they had it at the desk. If i couldn't make it, it would be waiting for me on Monday. i bailed from the office at 5, battled traffic to make it to the hotel by 5:30 (normally 10 minutes) and then back down to the airport to catch my flight.

i was able to have one big beer - India Pale Ales are popular there - (with the Quervo side) when my boss busted me out (he kept saying that the only reason i left early was to get to the airport to start drinking! LOL!) but i had witnesses. Two of our team members called me as i blindly passed them on the freeway saying that there was a crisis after i left the office. Bastards! It's a conspiracy, i tells ya!! i'd been bumped to first, but the plane hadn't been catered yet, so it was red or white in a plastic cup. Who am i to put on airs...especially when i was fronting to begin with? Soon enough, it was back to Corona's in glass.

It was a muggy night in STL, so i got rid of my shirt while i waited for Matt to pick me up. Then we were off to the bar for more drinks and comaraderie.
