i was in the back end of my second year of college. Back then, financial aid was pretty hard to come by...no grants, loans, etc. i was working two jobs to pay for school and living at home. In my degree - engineering - i would have to transfer to a different campus in a different city where i would have to pay housing as well as tuition and i wouldn't have a job lined up. Plus, working 60 hrs/week, i was pretty burned out. So i joined up. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
i've always been gay. But growing up out in the country in those days, i didn't have anyone i could ask or relate to. You kids don't know how lucky you have it. So i was in denial for about another 10 years. i always knew i was gay, but i was a self-hater. So i came out to myself half-way through my career. Then it was time to live a double life. Fortunately, that's when i went back to Germany, so i was able to be a straight GI in english and a gay man in german. Long story, i'll tell you some day. You can make me dinner sometime and i'll regale you guys with my

Things change. If i'd been in different units, things might not have been the same. Sometimes, they work out.

Woofer, you always seem to have positive memories of your military experience, without regretting leaving it. It's nice to hear about! Hugs!

It was good, it was bad, it was fun, it was tough. Life.
"Je' ne regrette non, rien!"
We all remember the good times and minimalize the bad times. That's why they're the "good ol' days" and not the "bad ol' days", though i had my share of them. Some times were amazing, some times were unbearable. Such is life. *hugz*
