For what it's worth, I wear suspenders (or "braces" as we call them) with all shirts, long sleeve, short sleeve, and T, and I also use them on shorts in the summer. And yes, I've done all the above in a business situation but then again America seems somewhat more conservative than Europe in terms of work attire.
