We made the assumption that they would be on our side. Silly us.

Not fingerpointing, just a statement of fact and pointing out the misguided assumption that they would be on our side. Silly us. And by registering so many new Obama voters, it meant more people to vote against our cause joining the whackjob republican fundies. Alas, religion and common sense rarely have anything in common and i don't think that there is anything that is going to change their minds. i honestly don't know what to do.

I can't speak for anyone but me. But when Utah wrote it into the state constitution, I was fighting it, or trying the best I could

Why has this one been such a vocal blow? Because it's the first time that the Measure actually striped rights that were gained vs. preventing the rights from happening in the first place

Taking away rights is much more anger inciting then simply blocking right which someone doesn't have.

Both suck no doubt, but I think there is a difference when it comes to how the Gay community respondes.

i'm just frustrated that i don't know what to do next. We'll never be able to pass legislation to impose taxes on churches that get into politics, no politician has the balls to actually try it. Religion and common sense have nothing to do with each other and there's no changing people's core beliefs.

Understood, just don't forget the rest of us stuck out here in the wastelands. The frustration is that there is no changing people's core beliefs since religion and common sense have little to do with each other so other than violence, what can be done?

I never forget my cousin who was a roommate was watching a new program("60 Minutes" or 20/20 don't remember which one) it talked about gays. My cousin turn to me and said 'if I turned out that way, I'll kill you'. I looked at him and thought 'what the fuck brought that up'. 4 years later my mom found out I'm gay. One time she grabbed the bible and read the part about God hating gays and bullshit like that. Two years later she knows she couldn't hold me back. Once I was out, I told a friend I'm going to tell the rest of the family I'm gay. My friend said, 'Ah I don't think that's a good idea. Even though I didn't said a word they knew when I my ex was a 400 pounded beard white guy that look like Santa Claus ( ... )

Thanks paganbear. This whole thing has really had me worried sick. I went out last night and had no problems or backlash. Yeah like Woofer said, "I don't know what to do". But we have to do something. We need to organize and keep on fighting. We'll prevail. HUGS!!!

P.S.
The mormon church is now thinking about turning back gay marriage rights in New York & Connecticut. We hope our gay friends in the state of N.Y. & Connecticut will fight to make sure that won't used their influence & money to pull that shit what they did in California. Hopefully this time we'll be prepare.
