I grew up with central a/c in Miami, so the whole concept of "opening a window for fresh air" was totally foreign to me until I went to college in St. Louis... where people opened windows all the time, apparently. Even in winter. I was amazed.
I do remember cupholder-less cars, though. And to this day the smell of warm car seat vinyl brings back fond childhood memories of days at the beach. It's intoxicating! I don't miss the all-metal seatbelt buckles of yore, though. Ouch!
