Well, you're not the only fag in America who hasn't seen Bareback Mountain yet. Marlin and I haven't seen it either. I think I'd prefer the movie you saw. I'm a bit of a history freak anyway, so it's more my thing. To be honest, I haven't seen any of the movies you mentioned except "And The Band Played On" (I also read the book.). One of my favorite period series is Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City" movies and books. And don't forget Torch Song Trilogy, even if I have to fast forward through Matthew Broderick's fag bashing.

PS Love the Sylvester tune. I only wish I could still hit the high notes. :O

Oh yes, the "Tales..." are definitely a chunk of our culture. It was never really THAT good and probably won't be ever, but we can all dream.

"You make me feel..." was kind of the theme song for the era. It just resonated through out the whole thing... *sigh*

I would have followed you into that dark auditorium! "Gay Sex" overhead, darkness beyond the door and you standing there in front of it with a dick-eating grin :)
Chalk me up as one more gay man in the land who has not seen Brokeback Mountain. I am just not into westerns.

i hope to squeeze it in this weekend or next. The rest are all out on video and should be easy to rent ("Angels..." was just on HBO last year with Al Pacino, Meryl Streep and others). They're all kinda sad in the end, but good films nonetheless.

A few weeks ago, I watched "Longtime Companion" with arktosnc and bfebear. I while understand the historical consequences of AIDS and know the lingering effects, the movie just didn't have the desired effect on me. I was just too young to identify with it... I hope there are others of the younger generation that WILL be able to realize the situation and that HIV does continue to exist and that it's still truly a health threat.

I think if you were a little older, it may have had a slightly diffent effect on you. From what i've seen, most gay me under 30 , don't seem to get it. I guess you really needed to live it to understand its power.

Absolutely! I'm just 29, and did live a very sheltered life from the view of sexuality outside of just the 'hetero-family' perspective. I am very happy to know that none of my close friends have HIV/AIDS; I'm very fortunate!!

My fear is that the other young gay folks (and people in general) do believe that AIDS is only a problem from the past, or from the older generation. If they don't heed the elders' advice regarding it, they may just realize first hand that truly is still a problem.

That's why we need to keep the dialog going. Even if a lot of guys don't wanna know or hear it, they need to. This is our history, our legacy. We need to do this to survive.
...and i WILL survive!!!

Hey, where did Matthew pick up Heathers? I have it on DVR, but would love to get the actual DVD. Especially on the cheap.

Do you remember the address of the house? I would love to drive by and watch the listings to see if they have an open house. Not in the market, just love those neighborhoods.

We got it at Streetside. Actually, i don't think he liked it as good as he remembered it...he might be willing to part with it at a good price! LOL.

The house was in that nice subdivision across from Grace church on Skinker, just on street towards Wash U. from Delmar. We love wandering through open houses. We're not in the market anymore either...which makes it more fun. Besides, i'm a nosy sonnofabitch!!
