No more UPS Hunt (Impreaching Bush) and ANTHROCON!

So, after nearly a year and a half of going in late or taking a long lunch break every Wednesday to run back home, track down the UPS guy and get the store's weekly shipment...  We changed delivery methods.  NOW, I have to drive half an hour into the sub-urbs every Wednesday morning before 6a, fight the morning rush-hour back into the city, before ( Read more... )

This late in his presidency is it really anything more than a show? He's out soon anyways, what's it matter how he leaves at this point.

Well, I don't know about you, but I think it's pretty awesome when people are held accountable for their actions, especially when their actions include war crimes and crimes against the state, but then, that's just me.

There is some things that many people are oddly apathetic about in my opinion. We not only let someone who ran the government get away with illegal and unconstitutional actions but pay him $3.2 million tax-free a year after he is out of office for doing so. Does that seem right to you?

I don't like getting raped and then paying that person millions of tax-free money for raping me.

Bush is being impeached... Why the hell has something like this not been even remotely mentioned. I'll admit I don't know the way the US system works. Is this like a preliminary motion that needs to go through another 10 committies before anything happens, or?

The resolution has to be approved by the judiciary committee and then voted on again. It's more likely that it will die in committee though, like the resolution to impeach Cheney from 2007.

I suspect the lack of interest is because they know nothing will come of it. On the Diana Reams show Monday one of the commentators pointed out: "I mean really, what more could they do to him? He's already the most unpopular president (amusingly, congress has a lower approval rating than him) and viewed as an idiotic monkey."

It was a procedural vote that sent the bill to committee -- those votes are generally near-unanimous, and the committee is unlikely to even glance at the bill before Bush's term is up.

Actually, they voted to refer the resolution to impeach to the House Judiciary Committee, where it will most likely die without ever being looked at, just like the resolution to impeach Cheney from last year. I don't know about you, but I will most certainly be making phone calls to John Conyers, the current chairman of the committee, urging him to investigate this resolution instead of ignoring it. Kucinich, the author of the resolution, has also vowed not to let the Judiciary Committee ignore it, so I really hope something gets done with this.
