SCAdians: What *instrumental* pieces would you consider crucial for Eastern musicians (or SCAdian musicians, or medieval reenactors in general) to know? I have a rough list in my head, but am curious to hear others' thoughts ( Read more... )

My medieval greatest hits; it's hard to pick two!

"Ai vist lo lop." Great to do a circle or chain dance to.
"In taberna quando sumus."
"Douce dame jolie"
"Stella splendens"
Cantiga 166
Cantiga No. 26, "Non a gran cousa."
Cantiga 119
Cantiga 353 "Quen a omagen de virgen"
Cantiga 100 "Santa Maria strela do dia"

Though these two songs are not as well known, they are tops in the Sephardic tradition:

Hm -- top one or two songs from each of those categories?

(looks at multiple binders of music taken to most events)

(looks at 50 page Emergency Music Packet stashed in violin case outer pocket)
