So, a little while ago we finally sold "my" house, the one I bought with advice and input from the Ladies' Champion but technically on my own back in 1999. We've been in the "new" house for over two years now, renting the other to a friend of ours who used to live across the street; he got himself in a reasonable position to buy, so all that is now ( Read more... )

I haven't had a chance to play with them, myself, but I've heard that some of them are better than others (IIRC, the little gittern you liked was one of the "good" ones).

I meant to say - I think that's understandable. He's only just starting out with instruments... Fortunately, he's close enough that I can try before I buy, in theory! :)

I was thinking it would be cool if Dru were willing to make that gittern with a single central soundhole large enough to "pop in" a more ornate rosette (a couple companies make laser-cut ones for hammer dulcimers and the like, for ~$10). Sadly, I haven't seen Dru in a while, and keep forgetting to email him to ask....

You know, it was! Oddly enough, it got given to me as a hand-me-down from someone whose kids had outgrown it! It mostly worked on my last system, but was just too outdated for the new laptop... Sorry to bring back bad memories. :)
