For the BPALers

... a.k.a. Another Random Pennsic Chunk.

Why yes, there was thematically appropriate BPAL for me at War! I wore the Unity Rose set (i.e., White Rose and Red Rose, layered) for Opening Ceremonies, and was terribly proud of myself. I also wore Aperotos Eros ("Unloving love," according to the Lab) for the Court of Love, and Berry Moon on its namesake ( Read more... )

You make me want scented musical instruments.

I'm sad that I missed the meet and sniff. I think I need to schedule my next Pennsic better, although "Ooo, shiny, what's that over there?" worked well enough for a first time, I suppose.

Oh! That gives me an idea to further customize my in-game mandolin in Lusternia. Scents would be WONDERFUL. (For reference, it's current description is: "Joyeuse, Echo of Delight: Showing no tool marks or joinings, this mandolin appears to have been grown into its present shape, not carved or crafted. It is formed of sleek silvery wood, the bridge and tuning pegs slightly darker than the rest. The soundholes resemble a cloud of small butterflies, flanking the courses of silken strings. Wisps of faerie fire dart along the golden strings, and the entire instrument glows with a soft prismatic light. Even at rest, faint sounds emanate from it, echoes of birdsong and laughter.") Yes, I'm a total geek. :p

!!!!!!!!!! That would be AWESOME. Yargh, I can't think of a way to do it with winds that wouldn't involve getting BPAL perilously close to sensitive mucous membranes. Woe...

I am *so jealous* of your mandolin!

Also, um, I LARP. You're in way totally geeky company here. :)

If you like the mandolin, feel free to check out all my in-game "paintings" on http://mlamar.deviantart.com/. :-) I'm going to start adding my designs, I think, or else stash them somewhere else online. They're really fun to make; you can do recipes (what it looks/tastes/smells like), furniture, clothing, all sorts of things. All the items are player designed.

Why is that twice in the last week I've been evangelizing Lusternia? Mael Eoin got an earful just the other day. :-p

Oh, nice!

I'd love to try Lusternia, but I can't MUD. Not reasonably, anyway; I had to go cold turkey ages ago because I can't seem to get out of a session in less than six or seven hours, and... yeah. :(

I bet that's what it is -- it needs five or six BPALers to pass it around a table at Pennsic before it achieves its true potential! :)

Heh. Yeah. I would compare for real, but I'm afraid to do the math... in both columns. :)

Hobbies are scary like that. I went through all the receipts for credits in my MUD when I was organizing my gmail, and realized I had spent close to $2000 on a text based game that is mostly free to play.

You rock. I love the idea of matching scents to themes of the day, and the Unity Rose set is awesomely symbolic.

Mwahahaha! You can do it too! It just requires... uh... hmmm... actually, I guess it requires way too much time thinking about BPAL. :)

I brought my favorite scents to Pennsic and wore absolutely no perfume. I couldn't bear to add one more wet thing to my skin.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I did mine in the morning when I got out of the shower and felt reasonably human.
