House update: Of the two places we saw last night, we loved one of them -- it was in the borough, had tons of original unpainted oak woodwork all over the place, plenty of room, and only a few minor quirks/flaws. We asked the agent if we could take a day or two to talk about it and get our paperwork and pre-approval handled, and she said "It's been ( Read more... )

We're figuring whatever is meant to be will be, yep. I do trust this woman, though -- she's a friend of a friend, and came highly recommended.

Keep your fingers crossed...

Some ideas of things you might try for UTIs:

Cranberry juice
Yogurt with live cultures
Shaklee's Optiflora (all the good live cultures, guaranteed to actually arrive in the intestine alive).

You want pre-approval? Go to lendingtree.com. You don't have to use your preapproval place as your final lending place. That's how we did it. I got preapproval by printing up the lendingtree.com sheet, and then i went and got the mortgage through my brother. ;)

Good luck!

As to the UTI, Macrobid (also known as nitrofurantonin) is a low-level antibiotic that won't harm fetal development, but will stave off and/or cure a UTI...

Unfortunately, being prone to them as I am (I think someone "up there" hates me, because I can't do *anything* down there without getting one), my GYN put me on an almost permanent regimen of Macrobid, just in case I get pregnant while on them. From multiple studies, it's harmless to the fetus, and definitely less dangerous than allowing a UTI to continue.

Nitrofurantoin is awesomesauce.

I have that as a low level anti-biotic for the same reason. Well not cause I'm knocked up. But because I do UTI like a career choice.

My doc gave me that kind because if I did get knocked up it was not dangerous. She rawks

Checking back, I had the same issue at precisely the same point in the pregnancy. I found that lots of acidophilus tablets and yogurt and probiotic stuff really helped. Keep in mind that this may mean (depending on whether or not it's Group B Strep) that you have to be on antibiotics during labor, which means that you need to get to the hospital earlier than you might otherwise once labor starts.
