Liar Game - Yes I am on a drama kick, why do you ask

Apr 22, 2010 12:23

In less overtly enraging but still irritating news, after tearing through both S1 and S2 of Liar Game in the space of a few days, I am forced to admit that I sort of really really like it. This is galling! Because this show, it irritates me in so many ways! Most of them circling back around to the fact that it is the standard "dumb-as-a-sack-of- ( Read more... )

I almost hate to ask, but how do they treat Fukunaga in this series? Is she even a character, or did they make her a biological woman?

I like the manga, though. You get a bit more of Nao learning to be a bit sneaky, while still maintaining her sunshine and flowers view of the universe.

...Are you saying Fukunaga is trans or something in the manga?! Fukunaga is hilarious 70's dude up there. He crossdresses at one point but that's it.

(In S2, Nao is slightly less stupid and has learned to manipulate people somewhat herself, but in S1, she remains firmly dumb as a sack of hammers all the way through.)

THAT IS RATHER IRRITATING. I HAD NO IDEA.

Although he is v. androgynous what with his love of pink lipgloss and propensity for changing clothes every hour. I kept thinking we were supposed to infer something about him, but I could never figure out what we were supposed to be inferring.

All of my friends love the two, but typical airhead forced me to go back to my usual ShotaSHOTA faggotry.

I also sort of wish there was more PSYCHOLOGY because nothing better than to entice an audience to become badass manipulators than to get a degree in psychology!

Also, I so cheated my way to the top on a "Chance and Casino Day" in my AP statistics class thanks to card-scratching~

I wish there was more psychology too; I was especially disappointed by S2 antagonist lady's lack of imagination. Any 14 yr old having their first existential crisis has come up with the "all selfless acts are actually selfish acts" theory.

Matsuda Shota srsly won me over with his voice. At first I really did find him a bit odd looking, but all the while I was just like "oh my god just keep talking bb, just keep talking," and before I knew it his face had grown on me and I was flailing like a 13 year old girl.

I was wondering about Fukunaga too! I never would have guessed Scooby Doo guy was supposed to be her. :(

I would have never guessed scooby doo guy was originally a transwoman either. ;;

I'm sorry but I have only rather shallow things to say about this at the moment. melengro April 22 2010, 21:06:56 UTC

OH MY GOD SHE IS SO AMAZINGLY HOT I CAN'T EVEN

She is part of the organization running Liar Game, but has her own SEKRIT AGENDA, of course. (Said agenda involves finagling Nao back into the game every time she leaves it and helping her in subtle ways without ever actually breaking any of games rules.)

She is played by Kichise Michiko, who is also in the series BOSS (although sadly sans hot black pantsuit). BOSS stars the mindmeltingly-hot Amami Yuki (who used to be a legendary otokoyaku in the Takarazuka Revue). Kichise Michiko's character is lovingly bitchy to Amami Yuki's every time they're on the screen together and I just want porn of it so bad I can't even tell you.

(The synopsis for BOSS is terribly misleading, btw. She did in fact lose her job over a man, but it's not at all what it sounds like.)

*HYPERVENTILATING*

All I'm saying...is that if Henry Kissinger can get a Nobel Prize...there's no reason Takarazuka shouldn't have one. THAT IS ALL I ASK, WORLD.

ALL I ASK.

CONTRIBUTING TO WORLD PEACE THROUGH HOTNESS.

I DO NOT EVEN KNOW THIS SERIES YET AND ALREADY I CONCUR WITH YOUR BURNING DESIRE FOR YURI PORN.

Someone just showed me a hilarious pimp post for that show and all I can say is IAWTP, ALL OF IT.

I have been systematically trying to find Amami Yuki's dramas, but all of the ones I'm most interested in besides BOSS (most especially Rikon Bengoshi and Top Caster) are UNSUBBED. THIS IS A TRAVESTY. Srsly, watch Boss. The plot is ridiculous, but with Amami Yuki swaggering around and grabbing the world by its balls, who the hell cares about the plot.

It's Erica and Shota. They are awesome and adorable and have great chemistry. Enough to make up for...everything else.

I watched the first few eps as season 1 was airing, but got distracted, then subs for the final ep were delayed, then I fell out of dramas for a year, and now I have both seasons waiting.

BTW, I suggest Meitantei no Okite, BOSS, and Trick for your next jdramas.

Have watched some of Meitantei and all of BOSS - LOVE LOVE LOVE BOSS (Amami Yuki = my new TV girlfriend); not entirely sure what to think of Meitantei overall but wow Shota's antics are ADORABLE and I really like the long-suffering female dectective. Haven't seen Trick but I've seen you post about it and am intrigued.

(Hilariously enough it was Meitantei that made me realize that Shota is actually v. attractive. He's so EXPRESSIVE and it suits him so much better than the :| mask of Liar Game.)

BOSS IS MY NEW LOVE. Ep 3 doesn't exist, though. I am firmly convinced that, did it exist, it would have been written by someone TRYING to get fired.

MnO may be best viewed having had a few years to digest Japanese mystery dramamas and procedurals? But it made me admire him a lot more as an actor.

TRICK IS MY TRUE LOVE AND MAYBE MADE FOR YOU EXCEPT THERE ISN'T MUCH GAY BUT THE INSANE OTP IS THE BESTEST ESTEST THING EVER.

Was that the one with the serial rapes and the incredibly squicky resolution? B/c I was thinking of warning for that one whenever I got around to posting, omg, that one just left me going "...WHAT. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS." If I am very generous I could suppose that maybe they were trying to say something complicated about internalized sexism and women participating in their own oppression, but if so, they failed hardcore. :|||

Actually I would have already tried Trick by now but I have been slow getting around to it b/c I am shallow and neither of the leads really do it for me in terms of hotness. XD; Once I actually start watching, that will not matter in the least if the OTP is adorable, but the quickest way to get me to watch something is to entice me with cookies, and by cookies I mean droolbait.

With Meitantei, idk, I mean, I get most of the jokes and find them hilarious, but I don't feel like I have much to chew on BESIDES the jokes. Shota antics (he is pretty amazing in the role) and Longsuffering Female Detective are ( ... )
