What you've done is very well placed. I can see a hint of 'Alice in Wonderland' with the 'Eat me' cookes, and the brass thermos saying 'Drink me'. I also love the pattern of Charlie's sweater 'I <3'. Took me quite a long time to figure it out what the 'message' on the sweater was. XD
I really like both versions of the B/W drawing. I remember seeing the original quite a while ago. I like how yours and 'Lefemme''s worked out. All together it's a really sweet drawing :)

He, he. I've enjoyed lacing elements of Alice in Wonderland into the story. The universes seem quite compatible with each other and I was impressed with other artists who created art based on such ideas. Make note too of the "U" shapes along with the X's and O's (as associated with kisses and hugs).
Both pieces are very nice, as is the original line art. Wow!
lefemme's piece: I love the glittering pocketwatch, and all of the phallic-shaped objects in the background. Wonka must be taking Charlie someplace very special indeed! Hmm. I wonder what they're going to do there. *forces mind out of the gutter* I also kind of dig the haziness of the background compared to the level of detail in Charlie and Wonka.
theidolhands's piece:The texture in this piece amazes me. I love Wonka's jacket and Charlie's pants, and I'm also fond of the way you followed the movie, and made the blacks of Wonka's pants and waistcoat not quite match. The Oompa-Loompa table-legs are a great touch, as is the W on the chairback. I also like the symbolism along the edge of the table (let's see . . . I can pick out a paintbrush, a hand, a male symbol, a W, and something that kind of looks like a house. Charlie, kid, you need to move over a little bit so I can see! I'm also glad that you included links to the "in-progress" shots of the coloring -- I'm always interested in seeing

The book BEGS for subtle adult interpritations, much of the images and words are very provocative. Burton's interpritation follows that accurately as well. I like lefemme giving Willy a leopard print shirt too - that's an interesting idea! It is fun to play with the patterns, this movie increased my curiosity there as well.
Ah-hah! Aren't you clever to try to read the edge of the table. I am hinting at the linear structure of the tale itself and I DID think about what would be behind Charlie. Most of your guesses were correct and the last symbol is of the planet Earth. The "paintbrush" appears to be a "giant spear" from the Oompa-loompas mind but that is not quite what it is. *hint* *hint* (he, he - terrible tease I am) It is phallic too but not actually one.
I like to see how things evolve too. It's very personal to share, like "undressing" the drawing and I certainly don't mean to be arrogant about assuming people should like to look. However, since I do, that is why I include it.
