Last Sunday, which we call Palm Sunday (you’ll see why in a minute!), there was a community play performed in a nearby town called Abingdon to act out the last days of the life of Jesus.
Ah, we are English and mad and we go out in the noonday snow! To be honest, our weather is capable of being equally nasty in June or July - when we wear short sleeves and wellington boots and drink champagne under umbrellas for "fun". I can't explain "why" but it is a national characteristic, this defiance of the elements. We get colds and bronchitis, of course!
Oh, I missed you here! Yes, I think about you too and wonder how you are fixed these days. I had a kind card from the mother of a Japanese friend this week; the mother lives in takamatsu and the way she talks about her daughter (my friend Masa) makes me think of your mother and you ♥
I am fine, thank you. Y, I am very spoiled with all the lovely theatre and art and music round me here. On Wednesday, I am going to a concert given by the world famous and prodigious violinist Maexim Vengerov. I can't for the life of me think why he is coming to play a tiny venue in Oxford when he can fill the Carnegie Hall 7 nights a week - but I am very grateful!
I wish you could have joined me (wrapped up warm, mind) in watching the Passion Play too. A community play like this is all about being with other people.
I love how the audience got to participate in the play as part of the mob. It's looks fun! Great photo snaps, too. The donkey and chickens are beautiful.
Yes, the audience was offered "palms" to wave and was encouraged to shout and be a noisy mob at appropriate places. I didn't go to take photos so was fairly discreet about using the camera but I managed to get enough material without being a nuisance and spoiling anyone else's view or enjoyment.
I loved the donkey! The donkey sanctuary where he came from had a stall selling little plushie donkeys; I made a donation but didn't buy a donkey as I wanted them to have lots of plushies to sell to the people who would buy a plushie but wouldn't just give money to feed the donkeys and pay the vets bills. Maybe that was the wrong thing to do, if they count their success by the number of plushies they sell? Anyway, too late to change that now!

And as usual, wonderful pictures, KK!
I hope you're doing well. I'm sorry I'm so absent in LJ these days, but I often think about you. :)
