Christmas 2012

Dec 30, 2012 00:12

Happily 2012 seems to be ending with improved fortune for some friends - a good omen for 2013 hopefully! To keep the celebratory character of the mood, I thought I'd show a few photos from Christmas here in Oxford, UK.

I like your wreath, tree and the priests ready for the service to begin. I like how the light radiates our from where they will enter. Very special!

And tomorrow we prepare for New Year's ... 2012 was so long when it was summer. The winter is going by so quickly!

Yes, the carol service was a lovely occasion. There are surprisingly few carol services (as opposed to carol concerts) in Oxford but this one was perfect.

Glad you enjoyed the photos. I really need to get to grips better with my fancy camera!

such great pics! Thanks for sharing, that crown ornament reminds me of the one you sent me a few years back, though I keep it up in my office year-round!

Year of the Snake now!

Oh yes - it is similar (stitchwork - I chose it for you because you have a feeling for fabric).

Not quite yet, please! (Chinese new animal year starts on 4th Feb i.e. is solar, Chinese new lunar year starts on 10th Feb) I'm still enjoying the last month or so of dragon! This coming zodiac year is Black Water Snake, by the way. Don't really understand that significance of that beyond the way that it is calculated! All these things seems to be designed for extra complication to keep the feng shui men in business!

Glad you like the pics. I need to do more with my pictures in 2013. Maybe I should follow Gackt and use them for a 2014 calendar. (like I would prefer that to G's wall calendar ha ha)

I'm gonna have to do my research on the Black Water snake, hopefully it's a good year for all of us.

Thanks for putting the zodiac info on GA. It still makes my head spin!

Hello! Y, it was very enjoyable, thank you. I don't seem to have achieved anything for a week but I suppose that's the point! The one trivial thing that I like and haven't managed yet is doing a crossword puzzle; there have been lots of games (including a noisy Wallace and Gromit game where you shout "Yikes" a lot!) but I haven't got within reach of a newspaper and pencil so far.

Hope you have a good time with your dad - I look forward to some winter Disneyland pics!

I love Wallace and Gromit. Sounds like an awesome way to spend Christmas!

Disney was a wash out, unfortunately! The heavens decided to open and drown everyone who went to Disney today. There weren't many photos taken for fear of waterlogging the camera!

Believe it or not, the Wallace and Gromit game came with a box of MnS Wallace and Gromit crackers! The game was far better than the jokes. As you can imagine.

That's a shame (wet Disney). Did you have a good time anyway? I thought that Japan had nice dry winters and that only England was drowning. Clearly not! I planted some bulbs in the garden in the rain today. The little craters (holes for the bulbs) that I'd made in the flower bed started to fill with water before I could get the bulbs into them even - it looked like a model Somme!

Love the first photo. Calm and peaceful, and of course, the calendar.

The calendar is much admired! It is a very nice present to be given. As was the Sixth Day CD which I don't have.

I wish I could have taken more photos at the service but I had to be discreet AND beat the verger who was busy putting out all the candles at a great lick with a long snuffer on a stick!

Thank you! The tree is lovely - not just the sight but the pine-y smell and feel of its thick waxy flat needles are lovely too.

Yes, the slightly tart and peppery icing! Bless him.

Thanks for your visit here and for your seasonal good wishes which I cordially return.
