Did anyone see the BBC's adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard II last night? It was the first screening of four of Shakespeare's history plays, newly adapted for television as a celebration of our queen's diamond jubilee. There are some well-known actors in the cast lists - Jeremy Irons, Tom Hiddleston, Simon Russell Beale come to mind but I'm

Some of my North American LJ friends studied in England and still watch the BBC (for nostalgic reasons, maybe) but I'm not sure that it's technically that easy.
I hope all this typing of comments isn't bad for your arm. Does Sandie tug? I noticed you had a leash there. Our dog used to be off like a train if he saw something to chase!

Sandie doesn't pull a majority of the time. She will if she sees an animal, or if someone from the pack leaves and goes of somewhere else. She has separation anxiety.

Ah, I'm glad she's good most of the time. I bet she does enjoy chasing after little critters like squirrels! Our dog once sat all night under a tree (in our garden mercifully) where he'd got a squirrel penned up. And then he got hungry and just walked off and forgot about it. He didn't have too much brain (luckily for the squirrel).

In a couple of weeks time, the Globe touring theatre is bringing Hamlet to Oxford for open air performances in the Bodleian Quadrangle. I shall try to go - as long as it doesn't clash with kung fu ha ha
The current BBC Shakespeare's are showing each Saturday night so the next two weeks are Jeremy Irons as Henry IVth parts i and ii, and then it's Tom Hiddleston as Henry V. H5 looks good from the trailer.

But looking forward to Hiddles in HV. I hear Benedict Cumberbatch is thinking of doing his Hamlet, particularly (he says) because he's getting too old to play it now. I would actually enjoy seeing him in Richard III.
You can't combine kung fu and Shakespeare? Now that would be a fascinating production.

Oh, the Tennant Hamlet is on DVD? Thanks for the tip-off. I will put Amazon to work!

Reading the play is rewarding in terms of poetry and drama - so many characters squirming on the lumpy cushion of loyalty!
Thank you for your kind comment ♥

It is not written in haiku, but by one of the chinese/japanese poems. If you want me to put your name on this, please let me know.

And the poem is - no pun intended! - very reflective. (but is the second line "in this dreamword" or "in this dreamworld"?)
I'm very happy with this just as it is, dear BK1. There's no need to alter any of it, I don't think - it's lovely as it is. Thank you so much for finding a deep poem and a dark and deep (moving) picture to go with it. It's a beautiful present - I like poetry very much and I don't think that anyone have ever given me (made me) a gift like this before. It's perfect, thank you ♥

I loved that graphic since the time I found it years ago. With the water animated and a border added, it looks good to me. The silent night speaks -- you know what I mean.
I'm glad you like my flawed work :)
This afternoon and last night I was looking at the recent haiku on the moonlit pic you gave to me. It is hard to think of other things when looking at it.

I'm pleased that you like the moon pic that I gave you. As a funny coincidence, I took that picture during a trip to the Wales-England border when I had booked into a monastery for a few days to give myself some space, among other things to learn how to use PhotoShop!
