Oops - I forgot to include the gubbins! Now that you mention it, I did pick up a thing or two...
I have a few friends who are serious bowmen and the like but they don't mind me tagging along and jawing about martial arts and swiping about with all the whacky latex weapons. I genuinely admire the skill of the people who make these things. I haven't shown any of the costumes but they were beautiful and I wish more people had the guts to stride about openly in the stuff!
Oh, the Society for Creative Anachronism folks are quite often muddy, grass-stained, etc. But after a day of putting up pavilions, fighting, gaming, etc. we try to freshen up for Court, which is followed by feast. Except for the cooks, who will usually wear a greasy tunic all day.
Spiffy! Everything looks so well done. The boots look cool. I still have a pair of boots I picked up at fair like this years ago, before I stopped buying leather goods. I'm glad you seem to have had a fun outing!
Hello! Yes, the craftsfolk were wonderfully talented and I enjoyed talking to the master swordsmith about the sword musuem in shinjuku. I was taken along by friends who were genuine re-enactors but also do steam-punk and more "alterntive" styles so they were easy-going about my lack of authentic cred! It was a good outing and included ice-cream on the way home, despite the low temperatures, by popular vote.
I would have like some boots but settled for an wrist-band as it was easier to find a good fit. The photos are a bit erratic as the place was crowded so it was difficult to get a good shot of some things (hence no longbows or cloth or dress costumes).

The exhibitors at Northampton were a cross-over bunch so anything went. I found that the latex "weapon" range now includes frying pans, much to my amusement!
