Yeah, I think that Brave was just squeezing against the edge of Disney's comfort zone, and they weren't certain how to market it.

Still though, good movie. Very pretty.

Disney is really dialing in mother-daughter relationship patterns in a way I find extremely interesting. Tangled was another one that I thought did a good job of giving mother and daughter somewhat realistic dynamics and personalities, within the traditional framework.
