I have to read it purely for the premise.

It's first person, you know.

BUT THIS SHOULD NOT DETER YOU BECAUSE FIRST PERSON IS THE ONLY REASON IT WORKS AS A BOOK.

That's encouraging! A friend suggested it, and I have a thing for end of the world scenarios, so I'm looking forward to reading it.

Alas, Babylon is one of my favourites, too. I found it much more satisfying than The Road. (Plus the punctuation in The Road threw me out of the narrative constantly.)

The funny thing about Alas, Babylon is that I live in the area the novel is set, and have actually visited several of the places mentioned on my own "book tour" to see the salt cove, the roads, etc.

I enjoyed The Road. The punctuation didn't bother me at all, and I appreciated his style.

I know Alas, Babylon set in central Florida, which is where I grew up. I'm sure I'll recognize some of it myself, so I'm looking forward to that aspect, too.

I love Life of Pi... and all the other ones on that list that I have read.

I once tried to do a list like this, but it was pages long and I eventually gave up. You have inspired me to try again.

Well, these are the books I have currently in my possession or that are on their way to my house (yay! online shopping). So it's not like a list of books I want to read, but a list of books I actually have and plan to read. Makes it easier to manage.

(Also, that's why it's so short. As the year goes along, it will probably get longer.)

Erm... If I listed all the books I own but still need to read, it would still be massive. I buy books compulsively, often with no intention of reading them immediately.

Hi, my name is Silburygirl and I have a problem.

While money was tight a few years back, I learned to curb my book buying tendencies. Not that I don't have a pile sitting next to me that I haven't read yet, it's just that I had to wean myself off of that habit. Seems I like eating and having electricity. Go figure.

Only one I tried to read is The Historian. Note the word "try"
