Interesting. I thought those Baen collaborations were the senior author handing an outline to the junior author, who did the actual text.

I suspect it may have varied depending on the authors involved. From what David Drake has said at various conventions and on his own website, that seems to be the way he did it, but I don't know if that was true for other authors - Eric Flint and Jerry Pournelle come to mind.
