It's all about the "he says, she says" bullshit

For some reason best known to God and/or their ids, a number of acquaintances who live in the Ninth Circle of Hell* have felt it necessary to inform me of the doings of my ex-wife and her (apparently) soon-to-be-ex.
My general reaction to this is best expressed by the following picture posted last month by P:

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger; as you may have gathered from my intemperate rant, some of my Detour acquaintances made the same mistake.

Did I at least ask if you wanted to hear about the ex and the door mat? I THINK I did, but I'm not sure.

i got so tired of people informing me what the 'ex' was doing that i had to get rude with a couple of people. i don't care what he's doing, or with whom. the only way we communicate these days is through our lawyers, since i am a 'gentile' and not worthy of the attention of a morman in good standing with temple recommendations. go have a nice adult beverage and count yourself lucky that you live far enough away that she doesn't decide to show up on your doorstep unannounced for a shoulder to cry on.

David, I don't think I'm on speaking terms with very many people in MNSTF any more, which is no great surprise after I posted a copy of the HRMP replete with snarky comments and historical context here some years back.

Actually I could picture them swinging in on a rope vine anyway. There's a twisted code of honor in fandom along the lines of, "I must defend my enemy to the death for it is a fine and lonely thing to be a fan yada, blahda, Doo!"

(Side note: I've been going to the occasional MNSTF meeting (it's nice to see people without going to a funeral), but no involvement beyond that.)

Madge, she already did that via email a couple months back when things were starting to go off the cliff. While I may be largely indifferent these days, I'm not about to stand by while someone contemplates suicide...but I'd do that for any j - random stranger.

I, and my mother, would appreciate it if y'all would stop trying to drag even more people into the mess that is our lives lately. Our lives are not a soap opera for your entertainment and I'd appreciate it if the whole lot of you (Dad excepted, since I know he won't talk around) would just shut your fat yaps about the subject entirely.

Hopefully things will settle down a bit up there and return to some semblance of order.
