hump day with the shrink

Having finished this morning's blogging, I am killing some time before throwing laundry in so that I can greet the shrink in the festive colors of our tribe. I'm not sure what the shrink and I will find to talk about, given that I think the current tussle with the black dog is all about the current situation rather than anything inherent in my mind ( Read more... )

My brother gave me Battle Cry of Freedom a decade and a half ago. However, I'm currently on "Unvexed to the Sea" volume 5 of Shelby Foote's Civil War masterpiece. It's interesting because of his obvious affection for the CSA, and especially Jefferson Davis.

And I hope the black dog gets an appropriate restraint; it's the leash you could do.

You are certainly correct, I think, in observing a certain echo of pre-Civil War aspects in our modern political discourse. Things are getting pretty bad, and political maneuvering tends to take on a common aroma.
