Hell's weddings have always been political.

To say nothing of all the political marriages here on Earth, for that matter.

Frankly as a Priest can feel free to preach about the Immaculate Conception,or a Lutheran to talk about Justification by Faith without the works of the Law, any minister who's faith believes in traditional marriage should freely preach it. Especially in the Catholic Church where marriage is a Sacrament.

Dunno, I'd be pissed (and actually stop the homily) if it were MY wedding. All the queer guests would cheer me on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you always gave me the distinct impression of being the kind of person smart enough to talk this over with the priest BEFORE things got out of hand. Stopping the homily may make for great drama, but strikes me as the kind of thing I'd rather hear of second-hand. :(

Did the priest ask about it beforehand? See, I wouldn't expect it, and if it just came up out of the blue, I'd be mad!

He would probably have made the entirely reasonable assumption that if you were having a Catholic wedding, you'd be down with Catholic doctrine. See, this is why I'm attending a Ukrainian Particular church these days; between my rusty Russian and Ukrainian liturgical argot*, I'm probably only understanding 20% of what the pastor says that isn't in the liturgy. (HHOK)

* to say nothing of the differences between Russian and Ukrainian, which are kind of like the differences between Spanish and Italian, only with different versions of Cyrillic to add to the fun. :(
