Worst Good Friday Mass EVER.
What the hell kind of Good Friday service doesn't include the Passion? Passing references in dirgelike verse/response chants do not cut it here, nor do historical parallels from the Book of Lamentations. I want the Real Deal, because THAT is what Good Friday is all about. The other 364 days of the year we can maunder all about His sacrifice and its meaning for us, but on this day of all days we deserve to have the death of Our Lord rubbed in our faces, because without that death there could have been no Resurrection, and without the Resurrection we'd be sorry-ass losers indeed.
Don't even get me started on the interminable, horrible (modern) music. It's an hour of my life I'm never going to get back.
Next year I think I'm going to find a Ukrainian Catholic Church. They do Good Friday the RIGHT way.
