Yes, It's that time again.

Yes, yet again, more about the Buffy!Verse comics. Now in my ideal world, AtS would go to Dark Horse, where I will never buy another comic again, and Spike would get his own series at IDW written by Brian Lynch. I know, dream on. Alternatively, if I can't have that, he would die a hero's death, and be left forever in the realms of fanfiction, ( Read more... )

I bought one Buffy comic when it first came out. Then I bought the first ATS After the Fall comic. I just wanted to see where they were going with the story. I was bored and never bought any more.

I have read about the comics on LJ and pleased that I never spent any more money on them. I really can't stand how Buffy was written in the comics. She is a thief, lusted after Xander(WTF?) and slipped back into dumb teenager when Angel showed up as Twilight. This is not my Buffy. The comics are not canon to me, but some of the worst fan fiction written.

I decided not to spend any more on Dark Horse because of Scott Allie. I'm now delighted I haven't.

I liked what IDW did when they first got AtS and gave Spike his own comics. That was what brought me into the fold. Alas it has been all downhill since After the Fall.

I'm going to pirate the DH comics till the end of this comic run just to see if any of the spec I had turns out right. After that, I'm not even going to take the time to steal them. Angel's been destroyed, Buffy's been horribly OOC since the beginning, the other characters are just uninteresting to me and on of my least fav characters is practically a Mary Sue.

As far as comic book companies, though, DH and Allie are horrible, horrible, horrible.

Allie and DH are quite unprofessional, and backstabbers. Not impressed at all.

I've given up on Season eight, and only finished After the Fall because of loyalty to IDW and Brian Lynch. I will give Lynch's Spike run a try, if it is disappointing, I'm done.

In an ideal world, JW wouldn't have "gone comic".

Very true, it seems to have gone rapidly downhill since he became involved again. Alas.

I wouldn't recommend them, but best to make your own mind up. I don't really think you are missing anything. Well except a whole load of wank really.

I'm interested in getting the earlier ones of BtVS and Angel and Firefly and Serenity and the one about the future slayer (gah, I forgot her name). Guess I'll see how things go from there ;) However, before that I want to buy the DVD box sets of Buffy and Angel :)

Well to be honest, the comics aren't that good, especially the Dark Horse ones. And difficult to get the early ones. They do come up on ebay every so often, which is probably your best bet. The comics I would recommend would be 'Fray', 'Tales of the Slayers' and 'Tales of the Vampires'.

I got the box sets of both Buffy and Angel, as they were on special offer at the time, but the best way to watch them is Buffy season's 1 2 & 3 then Buffy season 4, Angel season 1 etc, as the storylines fall through each other. Season One of Buffy isn't great, but season two is a classic.

Hope you enjoy!
