I am very pleased, if nothing else, then because new canon will hopefully help people move on from the whole Ianto debacle. (Don't get me wrong, it totally broke my heart, but there are people out there who are unhealthily obsessed with this.)
Torchwood: coming back from the dead more than Jacklove_jackiantoJune 7 2010, 18:19:11 UTC
'So is Starz a better or worse prospect?' It's better than Let's-Make-Jack-Straight Fox that's for sure.
As for it coming back, I'm not sure how I feel; I've pretty much moved on from Torchwood. Honestly, I thought TW was a good as dead because it's been gone for so long. RTD pretty much destroyed everything I liked about the show in CoE and his 'I don't need fans' and 'I love killing characters, except for the ones I like' attitudes didn't help. I might watch clips of first episode out of curiosity (we don't get STARZ), but I'm not going to become invested in any of the new characters and seeing how little RTD thinks of his fans would make it hard for me to buy dvds and such.

I thought they had to be, and was a bit more optimistic with the BBC's involvement this time.
I have to agree. All the characters I was interested in have been killed off. All three has such protential for great character development that was squandered. While neither Jack or Gwen really appeal to me in that direction at all. Neither of them seem to move from being, basically, the self centered people they started off as.

'All three has such protential for great character development that was squandered. ' Pretty much. RTD COULD come up with new, interesting characters, but he's made it pretty clear that his characters are just canon fodder.
'While neither Jack or Gwen really appeal to me in that direction at all. Neither of them seem to move from being, basically, the self centered people they started off as.' Same here! I fully expect New!Torchwood to be Gwen-heavy (like CoE) and Gwen is a character I've never been interested in at all because, like you said, she's never really grown as a character; which was a shame because there was a lot they could have done with her.
My first reaction was a resounding NO! because I loved "Children of Earth" and didn't want that ending to be touched. However, part of me is happy to see Jack and Gwen again ... and that it isn't Torchwood!USA. I'm on the fence as to whether or not it will be any good, but ... it's interesting.
