Fandom Longativity!

Ok, didn't see David and Ronnie today. Started coughing, sneezing, aches and pains and a headache. I think the headache was due to lack of sleep. So I phoned them and cancelled, took some lemsip, and went back to bed. The headache is gone, but, apart from the sniffling, the ball of my right leg is killing me ( Read more... )

I have to agree with you. I think the Buffy online fandom will live a very long time. I don't know about Dollhouse because it has only been airing for 11 episodes now. Also it's on Fox and they have a mega history of cancelling shows if they don't have a gazillion viewers every single episode. But I certainly love that show too.

I really hope the SPN fandom will stay alive but to be honest I see people following the boys to whatever they do and not staying with it when SPN is over. However, saying that people followed DB to Bones and yet stayed with the Buffyverse so who knows?

You always make me all thinky, it's good!

Thank You Jamie. I just cannot see the SPN!Verse surviving as long as the Buffy!Verse to be honest.

I made you thinky *rubs hands in glee*

*hugs*

Funnily enough I was just considering doing a Supernatural meta post about Kripke's inability to write good secondary characters, especially female ones

Pretty much agree with everything you've said here. Supernatural is (in my opinion) fun to watch but not the best writing in the world. Joss will always be king when it comes to that

Oh you that would be good. I suspect the appeal of Supernatural is due to the two main actors Jared and Jensen, but the writing just isn't in the same class as Joss.

Yeah, the appeal is definitely the way Jared and Jensen play Sam and Dean

Yes, it is a cult following of the actors, not the writer.

I enjoy shows like Dr Who, Torchwood, Dollhouse, Dexter and Supernatural, but I don't feel the same way about them as I do about BTVS. I get lost in BTVS so easily and remember each tiny detail of it. I doubt I will ever be a fan girl of any show or characters like I am BTVS. I've read fan fics from other series, but am not interested in them much. I think a great deal of my interest is due to James/Spike.

Yes, James/Spike is a major part of my attraction to the Buffy!Verse. I just couldn't get enough of him, but what really keeps it alive is that there are so many other characters to play with.

I was more a fan of the AtS characters and storylines, but Spike kept me coming back to BtVS time and time again.

I watched Buffy, but never got into fandom and stuff like that. But i liked the show!
Normally, when a tv show i watch is finished, i keep an eye on the future projects of my favorite characters and try to follow their career. For example, i really liked Katie Cassidy (aka Ruby) so i started to watch Harpers Island because of her and i love it.

And you´re right about our boys. There is so much pressure on Jared and Jensen and they have so many scenes. And the show is really about the brothers and not so much about the other characters.

I got into the Buffy!Verse after the show ended, once it was finished, I needed more, so went online. I think when Supernatural ends, and EK has told his story, that will be it. The actors yes, I'll follow them, not so sure about the show.

Jared and Jensen have so many scenes. The show is about the relationship between the two brothers, but still think the other characters could be developed slightly more.
