How can you have a discussion when.....

The Doctor Who name has been going for 40 odd years, with who knows how many writers etc involved. So continuity and canon can be all over the place. It is mindboggling where it all is, but when someone asks a specific question, which can be discussed, it is so annoying just to get the reaction of wibbly-wobbly timey wimey. Enquiring minds want ( Read more... )

Funny you should post that just when I'd read this interview with Steven Moffat:

Having taken the precaution of having memorised every single event in Doctor Who's history, it's fairly easy for me to keep continuity because I remember it all.

In the end, a television series which embraces both the ideas of parallel universe and the concept of changing time can't have a continuity error - it can't.

It's impossible for Doctor Who to get it wrong because we can just say 'he changed time, it's a time warp, it happens'.

Oh that was an interesting interview, I had missed it! I'm delighted he is going to do new characters and monsters, I was getting so fed up with the old ones myself.

I guess that just means that there are going to be big unexplained gaps, and it is all, wibbly-wobbly timey wimey. Could get boring pretty fast!

I dunno, I've yet to see anything of Moffat's that's less than great - and yes, I include Coupling in that. :-) Based on how much of a Who fanboy he seems to be, I take it to mean that he'll try to stick to continuity, but that continuity is already so messed up that he won't lose any sleep if he has to retcon something... and given the last 3-4 season finales, he probably won't do any worse than Russell T "Reset Button" Davies.

Oh I am so looking forward to Moffat taking over, I am sure he will be an improvement. The Doctor Who name has been going so long, and on so many meduims continity must be a headache, I just wish Russell T Davies could have kept some in even one season!

When they dont know the answer to something the smart asses always come up with that dumb ass response.

I keep the heck away from the Who comms unless the show is airing because they're full of annoying people.

LOL Bitter much? Who me?

Yeah, I don't want to think about this, so will come out with a cliche! I tend to avoid spoilers, so tend to want to avoid them when the show is on!

I think some it is that some of them a very young, but want to sound like the biggest fans on earth, even if they are to young to have seen the original 60's and even 70's shows on TV, so they attack!
