Gay Agenda

Jun 15, 2008 02:38

There is much debate going on at a Dr Who community about RTD having a Gay Agenda. I am not quite sure what the Agenda is. Really with RTD's potrayals of Gay relationships, my only concern is with Jack being Transgender. JB is a well known Gay man, and in a committed relationship himself in real life. But in having him portray someone who will ( Read more... )

I see no agenda except to portray people in all varieties and that includes gay and bi. Nothing wrong there...in fact we need more understanding and that comes from exposure.

Funny but the gay couples I actually know in person are both in relationships longer than my nearly 17 year marriage! Yes there can be permiscuis gay people....JUST LIKE HETRO!? Probably the same numbers. There can be gay people who engage in perverted behavior (child sex comes to mind and is the base of this statement)....BUT SO DO HETRO...pobably in the same numbers. In short it has nothing to do with the sexual orientation but the persons.

Gay couples just like straight couples can either be good parents or not and raising kids should be based on good parenting.

You are completely right in your post and correct to feel annoyed.

Thank You, yes it just stirred up memories of people I have argued with in the past. There are good and bad on both sides of the coin it is true, but there are those who would judge someone harsher because of their sexuality.

For no reason, just same sex couple would be incabable of bringing up childern.

I totally agree with you. I have pointed out to someone in the past the following -

It was very common in my generation to find all-female households of three or even four generations - people were being brought up by their mother and their granny. No-one seemed to think this a problem. There were some households with children being brought up by father and grandfather as well. No-one objected.

Which seems to imply that there is no real objection from anyone about children being brought up by two people of the same sex - only two people of the same sex who are having sex.

Oh yes, so long as it was all in the family, it was ok. So having a Female, or Male household bringing up children was allowable. Even it that is not always a sign of a good household, no-one would bat an eyelash!

So I think it is to do with them being a couple, which I cannot see an objection to myself, but many do.

Does annoy me!

Meh. People kept complaining about Whedon's "feminist agenda", and just about any show that has major black characters (hello, Martha Jones) gets slammed for having an agenda too... in fact, I think the only shows/movies/etc that DON'T get accused of "having an agenda" are the ones where the traditional straight white Christian human males are in indisputed charge. Funny how that doesn't qualify as an agenda, isn't it? ;-)

It is very disappointing, and shows how we still haven't moved very far down the road to equality. Still the die-hard bigots out there, who want to keep the traditional straight white Christian human males as the one's seeming in charge!

It will still need while for attitudes to change.

Someone said he had a gay agenda on the DoctorWho comm and I thought it was hillarious. They wrote this check list that was so funny because it went with every episode he writes. Anyway....

Gay people can be just as good parents as straight people, it's pathetic to think otherwise and to do so or come up with any argument that they cant is often from the mouth of a homophobe hiding behind their own hate. Just IMHO of course.

It just got me annoyed, and some of the comments were just as bad.

Same sex couple can bring up children, and do it well! I see no problem with it, it is all just bigotary. The ones who say it have a lot of bigoted views as well! At least that is what I have found!
