Seeing as it's been many hundreds of years - a couple of thousand, even, at least - since Belgarath last set foot in this beautiful, swirling lack of direction, he's pleasantly surprised to discover that at least one of the boltholes he'd established is still there. 'Bolthole' is an interesting description for what it actually is - a both very ( Read more... )

Tea has been here long enough to understand, at least nominally and as much as anyone ever does where this place is concerned, where she is. The idea of layers to reality is one that occurred to her as a child, when she suffered the persistent belief that everything was a television show being watched by God or witches or something in another dimension, and people were watching them laugh, and so on and so forth.

It's still a little distressing. She's wearing pajama shorts, also, as well as a cap-sleeved pink t-shirt and dark blue kneesocks, suggesting she wasn't expecting to end up in an extradimensional meeting place but nevertheless is looking around, tentatively. When she sees Belgarath, she doesn't say anything, since he appears to be very serious about this tree, which she glances up at a second later.

Oh. A treehouse.

He is, in fact, fairly serious about the tree; it's solid and certain in the midst of things that very much are not, and even sorcerers of his caliber aren't immune to having a surreal few months. (Beldaran was there, and here she is not, and he can only lose so many people so many times.)

"Hello, there," he says, without turning or dropping his hand, and with an undiscernible accent. His voice is pleasant enough, pitched calm and friendly.

"Hi."

She's still looking up into the branches, so obviously between them they are the champions of eye contact. (Tea is actually generally unnervingly good about that, but the treehouse is pretty interesting. She didn't even have one as a kid, much less recently.)

"Beautiful, isn't she?" Belgarath's tone of voice is fondly respectful, like someone talking about a very old friend they have the greatest admiration for. The alcove that he took Silk to when the Drasnian showed up hasn't been maintained as he left it, like the hidden away house in the tree, but he'll probably fix that up later. For now, he's getting reacuqainted.
