So brutal honesty meme? Yeah, that was never going to end well. I agree with sockkpuppett; honesty doesn't have to be -- and shouldn't be IMO -- brutal. If you can't figure out a way to say something honestly without making it a flame or blatantly hurtful, then maybe it's a "truth" that doesn't need to be shared

Oh yeah. I winced the first mention I saw of it on my flist, and sure enough by the end of the day, there was hurt feelings and tears and just... ARG.

I had actually been toying with the idea of a love meme in response myself but someone else beat me to it. Which is one of the great things about fandom. :D

I think this kind of thing would be a bad idea no matter the circles -- I just hang out the most in fandom so that's where I see it.

I long ago gave up the attempt to remain unspoiled for SPN because I have like zero willpower, anyway. But yeah, that really doesn't surprise me at all.

People can suck sometimes.

I saw sockkpuppett's post on this and didn't know what it was about, and now it clicked with this post. Is this in SPN fandom, or am I just out of a loop I really don't want to be in?

It was getting mention mostly in the SPN involved people on my flist's ljs so yeah it's probably started at least in SPN.

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea to the person who created it at the time...
