For some reason, Sabriel has just such a wonderful dynamic for h/c fics. :)

It actually took me a while to work out that Sam and Gabriel were together, which was mostly due to Dean's reactions (as the WInchester most capable of, well, doing anything) - he seemed antagonistic enough that this could have been the first time they'd seen him after Changing Channels, with Dean only grudgingly accepting his presence because he's probably not going to kill them straight off and you'd damn well better fix Sammy right the hell now.

Which I like, honestly - it felt right, firstly for Dean and Gabriel to maintain a bit of an antagonistic relationship even if it's usually just snarking at each other, and secondly for Dean to revert straight back to that everyone-else-is-the-enemy mindset as soon as Sam is hurt. Much better than the saccharine mutual tolerance you often get.

That is basically what I was thinking when I wrote his reactions. That's his Sam, with a wound he's never quite dealt with before and there's no way he would be happy about Gabriel being in his space right then. I really love when Dean's all overprotective and growly, especially to Gabriel. But then, maybe I just love people struggling over Sam, hee.
