Zac was sick at work yesterday, came home to our place and crashed on the couch. He's a bit better today, but whatever's bothering him is making his blood sugar levels jump over 500. He's still sleeping away on the couch, but hopefully we'll be able to beat back whatever this is. Also, Zac's presence is causing Drama with mom. Between the back pain

Is Zac diabetic? A blood sugar of 500 is Serious Business -- he needs treatment ASAP.

Yeah, he's diabetic. He took some insulin and within a half hour it had dropped back to 158. So far he's been sleeping the day away when we aren't poking him up to check his sugar levels and making him drink more fluids.

Doesn't mean I'm not worried, though. ;; x ;;

The lethargy bothers me. I mean, I'm not trying to make an internet diagnosis, but fixing high blood sugars too quickly can be damaging as well.

I would really take him to the hospital.

That's one of the reasons why we've been keeping him here, so dad can keep an eye on him. I'll go check on him again. > >

Okay. I hope he feels better. If he doesn't, try to convince him to at least see a doctor tomorrow morning so they can do a couple of blood tests.

Diabetics are hard patients. Any kind of underlying stress -- like an infection coming on or something -- can jack up the blood sugar to alarming levels. There may be something else going on as well.

I hope so too. Thankfully, the stomach ache that started this whole business is going away, as is the headache. I can hear him taking his insulin right now, so we'll see how that goes.
