The slightly odd subject line is because I thought it sounded better than Posting and TMJ. There is no connection between them other than them both being mentioned in this post

I got one of these NTI devices to try to help my headaches. They say that it works for migraines, which I don't really know about. But it does help with my TMJ. I clenched my teeth so hard that they cracked, and loosened all my old amalgam fillings (no grinding, just clenching). I even do the maintenance on my device--it develops a groove over time, which can be filled with the acrylic used for artifical nails.
This site has a list of dentists who prescribe these. There are quite a few providers in the area these days (when I first got mine, there were 3).
I hope your jaw calms down. I know how much that pain sucks.
Ugh. I'm starting to have TMJ problems too and mine is cowed by advil and warm compresses. I don't know how well I'd deal with the level of pain you're experiencing.
Aye, I agree with the decision to see someone! Maybe bite occlusion could be a problem, or grinding your teeth at night?
I'm hearing that your TMJ flare-ups, like mine, are brought on by stress and tension. I've also found that mine have worsened over time, become longer in duration and more painfully severe. I think it's a good idea for you to consider seeing a specialist about it.
