Costumes OMG!

I've been watching SyFy's The Heroes of Cosplay and it's bringing back my desire to costume full force. I don't want to compete, and I don't have time to make more than one awesome costume a year. I've decided that next year I will be going back to Dragoncon and I will be dressed most awesomely. I've already started brainstorming ideas ( Read more... )

I've been watching the show, and I'm torn on whether I like it, but it does make me want to costume. Not compete, though some of the "competition" quality costume seem less than what I could do... :/

Yeah, I think you have to keep in mind that the show is edited down from hours of footage. But I like that it's inspiring me to get back into costuming. :)

I've already settled on my Halloween costume AND next year's Dragon*con and I'm researching construction methods. This year's won't be so bad because it's one I've been meaning to do for years and have most of the materials for but next year's is going to be a doozy. Lots of learning new techniques and creating things I've never done before. Whee!

I don't know that I'll ever compete. But if next year's costume looks as good as I hope it will, I might be tempted. That's given I lose the weight I want as well.

I wish it was more about the costuming (which I would LOVE to learn, especially from people who make some of those costumes!) and less about the drama, but you know how "reality" TV has to be all about the drama... I don't think half as many people would watch it if it was just about crafting. :/

I'm working on something for the next zombie walk, but I really don't know if I'll get it done in time, especially since I also have to make two costumes for our October performance. But we'll see. I have some vacation, I might use it just for that (though every time I take time off work I end up not getting anything done, usually because I get sick or something goes horribly wrong with the house...).

I'm glad! I was hoping this show would get more people into the idea of cosplay as something fun to do, rather than something super nerds do. LOL
