My puppy went in for surgery last week to get spayed. When I dropped her off, they asked me if I wanted to get her microchipped as well. I told them she'd been microchipped already when she was a baby. If she ever gets lost, all animal services has to do is pass a scanner over her, and immediately they'll know where she lives, and how to contact me ( Read more... )

the thing with having chips inside of you is that, instead of stealing your credit card, theives will just chop your finger off(or wherever your chip is hidden).

This idea is and isn't a good idea. Yea, I understand what you're saying about it exposing criminals and fake ID's, but if you compile all of the information of a single person (i.e. SSN, insurance information, etc.) into one chip which is stored in a huge database then you're giving hackers who want to do identity theft a better chance of reaching ALL of your information and not just a credit card or insurance number. Also, how will you know if everyone has been chipped? people get around the system as it is, making a new one will just cause more chaos. I've thought of this idea a long time ago and thought it was pretty nifty, but, there's too many variables to look after.

when we go off the yard we have to take our IDs
its hard to show someone a microchip implanted in your skin
but i agree it would be easier
yet more complicated.
