Formula is practically a wonder-drug sometimes. When Kylie was a baby she used to scream regularly from 7 pm until 11 pm every night, and never slept soundly. Then, one night when she was four months old, Maeghan gave her a bottle of formula and Kylie CONKED OUT for, like, eight hours.
I know breast feeding is better for many many reasons, but nothing puts a kid to sleep better than a bottle of formula. Maybe you could try that with Liam? I mean, he's old enough now that you don't have to worry about nipple confusion.
He's beyond the age for regular formula and I'd rather not pay for it at this point, but he DOES get milk. No bottles though -- never would he take them, and I tried several types of bottles and nipples, formula and breastmilk. (Though since then, I've found bottles that are really boob-shaped, so I think I'll try them next time. If I can successfully pump, that is...)
I've tried offering a sippie of water instead of nursing at night, but that just pisses him off. It must come from a boob, damnit! He knows what he wants, that's fer sure. ;) I have to say, though, last night he only woke me twice to nurse (besides when he nursed at midnight when we went to bed and in the morning upon waking), so that's progress! We must be between teeth...
