so, for a while now i've been thinking it would be entertaining to document the funny, bizarre, or just plain ridiculous things that happen in this courthouse.  there are so many days where i just need someone to share this with, because just you can't make this shit up.  so, without further ado, two entries to start with ( Read more... )

I wonder if the guy was truly mentally incompetent or if his enthusiasm for messing around with people exceeded his interviewer's patience.

lol... judging from the other reports in the file, he seriously had some mental issues. luckily enough, the government dropped prosecution and the guy was released from the mental ward back out onto the streets. awesome, no?

Um, yay? Dropping prosecution I can understand, but if he couldn't demonstrate his sanity, why was he released from custody?

well, he was being held in a mental hospital where prisoners and defendants are held. when the government dropped prosecution, they couldn't hold him there anymore, and i don't know whether they would have been able to commit him somewhere else... i don't know the rules about that. also, he was only being evaluated (in the reports i read, anyway) to determine whether he was mentally competent to stand trial, not for any other purpose...
