laziness is different from non-doing. laziness denies life, denies the natural impulse to practice and to grow. non-doing to me refers to allowing life to flow through you rather than resisting it, and i believe laziness is a form of resistance to life.
does this make sense? it does in my head at least.
In a class that I had this year I got into a debate about some American's desire for dissatisfaction. My argument was simple, people are not thankful for their status in America. Rather than avoiding missile attacks and car bombings on the walk home from school, kids talk about football and video games. And on Saturdays rather than worrying about food to eat we worry about whether or not our team is going to win and what we need to get from Publix for the tailgate. Obviously I said that free trade, institutions and charity are helping in these "for instance" countries, but I got called Bilbo Baggins by the professor. Mainly because Bilbo choose to stay in Rivendale where everything was safe. I told him that Bilbo had already finished his adventures. I meant to post this story to my own journal months ago, I felt like it fit here instead. I guess don't be a Bilbo Baggins like me?
