Not much

(1) So I'm watching Smallville with husband and daughters; I've never seen it before. I'm confused; not sure I'd like it if I understood it. It kind of reminds me of Watchmen, which I really didn't like. Melded onto a normal crime drama. And then there's Lois Lane complaining about mud ( Read more... )

I tried watching Smallville for a while, but pretty much lost interest once I figured out the formula: The show is about Clark Kent, not Superman, and the iconic Superman-type things will be doled out at a very precisely measured rate - fast enough that the mass of their audience won't lose interest entirely, but slow enough that you never even up with a fully realized Superman, with the costume and with full knowledge of his powers (at which point they'd have reached the logical end of the series). I'm just really not interest in that of emotional jerking around.

One of the things that confused me was that most everything I know about Smallville comes from Clark/Lex fanvids. I kept waiting for the slash and there wasn't any.

My husband says (a) this is because Lex is dead, (b) that wasn't what the show was ever about anyway (well, that he more implied), and (c) that this past week's episode was really a great one for superhero fans. So maybe it's getting more towards what you were looking for?

For me, a show my kids won't watch is pretty useless (it's taking us weeks/months per SPN episode for this reason).
