Little Brother

I started reading Cory Doctorow's Little Brother as a free ebook a while back. And, after about five or six chapters, I decided I really, really wanted the dead-tree version. It took me a while to get around to picking it up, and I finally finished reading it this weekend.

Now, I'm not a great reviewer, so you should probably check out what Neil Read more... )

I enjoyed the book, but I didn't think it was successful in arguing for cryptography or free speech; I didn't like Marcus. I bloggered it on my page..not sure of the link, but I called it Little Brother = Little Bastard.

I saw a poster for some talk he was giving that described him as an "Internet Libertarian". That makes him sound like a huge douche. Is he in fact a huge douche?

I bought the audiobook version - the narrator was really really good, but I'm still hankering after the dead tree version. I thought it was a very scary and well written scenario, especially as you can see so many of our laws drifting in that direction. I'd recommend it to anyone - and it's great that you can read the pdf first and see if you actually would like to buy.
